The organisers of the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival are pleased to announce that as part of the Festival's Jubilee celebrations, a new award will be introduced - a Titanium Lion.



This award will be presented every year to the work in any category, or any combination of categories, that causes the industry to stop in its tracks and reconsider the way forward. The Titanium Lion will honor innovation - innovation in design, thinking, execution or sensibility, or innovation in the development of new forms of communication or the interrelationship between existing ones.

The four Jury Presidents will select the winner of this award. Since the Titanium Lion salutes the most provocative of works, it does not require consensus of all the Presidents, just a simple majority. This trophy will be presented to the winner on Saturday evening, 21 June, at the Film awards ceremony.

"The innovation of the Titanium Lion was suggested by Dan Wieden. When he made this suggestion we were thrilled knowing that the trend of the industry was moving towards convergence and this innovation reflects that trend" commented Roger Hatchuel, Chairman of the Festival.

The 50th International Advertising Festival will be held 15-21 June 2003 in Cannes, France.

The International Advertising Festival - Cannes Lions - is the largest gathering of worldwide marketing and advertising professionals, as well as the most prestigious advertising awards.
